Fished some of the local north Seattle area beaches last Sunday. Started at Carkeek at 9:00 AM, following up on a rumor of an angler regular catching sockeye on small clousers. Worked the incoming tide for nearly two hours, throwing small clousers, streamers and even Leland's poppers, all to no avail. Headed up to Richmond Beach later that afternoon and immediately encountered several small fish (large baitfish or small cutt's) jumping in near the beach. They dispersed fairly quickly and whatever else might have been around ignored my small green/white streamer. Switched to a small Miyawaki Popper (grizzly/white) and about 6 cast later hooked and landed an extremely chunky 16" cutt. Fished quickly back down the beach before leaving, without seeing or rising another fish. -Wes Wes Neuenschwander Seattle, WA USA
