"Flyfisher's Guide to Wyoming".

Probably the best thing for your friend to do is to stop in a shop.

Hoppers weren't quite ready to do their thing, though I have heard of various successful hopper stories respective to Slough Creek.  It's always useful to take along some Stimulators for the golden stones in various places that will likely show up.  Caddis, several species, are active right now.  Also, PMD's and the occasional Green Drakes and Flavs.  Callibaetis patterns work well on Yellowstone Lake during mid-day, as the callibaetis are just starting to pop.

A good 5 weight and floating line should work well.

Be ready for gobs of people, depending on which water is fished!

Your friend should take all his trout gear, tackle and flies. There is alot of different kinds of moving and still water. I live in Bozeman, MT., am here for work during the summer, which is o.k. because anyone who lives in montana knows that summer is the worst time of year to fish, just too damn crowded with tourist's.Summer is time to go alpine fishing. We go back to our beloved waters when you're all gone. I prefer a 5 wt. for the Yellowstone, Snake , Gallatin, Madison etc..I prefer a 3 or 4 wt. for the backcountry spring creeks.
If your friend has never fished Yellowstone, he should buy a book so as to take full advantage of his trip in his alloted time. A good guide book is "Montana Fly Fishing guide" EAST. by John Holt. It will answer all you need.

A friend of mine is going to the Yellowstone park next week. As I've
never fished the rivers in the park, I can't give him any advice
concerning rod, line, flies.... that he should bring.
I you have any suggestion, comments, advice, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
Vincent
