Was at Merrill two wks ago for two nights. First night the wind died around
8:30pm, hatch was prolific and the fish hit, following the "natural
trend"...first on emergers, then dries. Emergers worked the whole hatch,
which lasted 60-90 minutes (a slightly earlier hatch of what looked like
gray drakes -- pretty good size for normal mays -- came off with a bit of
surface activity). The second night the wind slowed down, but kept up some
gusts and the hatch was substantially weaker...hardly worth the up wind
pull to get there. I caught three fish the first night, one long skinny
cutthroat & two 13" rainbows. One of my buddies caught a large brown
(19-20") on an emerger the first night (all the fish from same area).

Hi Mike

Last I heard the campground is now open. Even when the campground was
closed
earlier this summer, the boat launch was open.

Where's Leech Lake?
