Preston has probably forgotten more about fish and fisheries science then
any ten of us combined know. Sure, commercial fishing and habitat are a big
problem, but (selfishly) I would like to keep catching fish until those
problems are solved.

Huh? Which is it?

Until we address the degradation of salmon and
steelhead (as well as other species') habitat as well
as develop viable solutions to alleviate or limit
pressures exerted by commercial operations, hatcheries
are only going to be the proverbial "band-aid".
