Tim,

I really like the water below shears falls on the Deschutes. there is a ton 
of good wadeable water that is great trout water and not necessarily 
attractive to steelheaders.

Rattlesnake canyon, near beavertail is one great spot. There is some great 
water just above Macs canyon that you need to hike down the scree slope to, 
good water just above beavertail, one spot called Prudential which we dubbed 
pig alley (in the middle somewhere between the falls and Macs). Endless other 
spots along the road that you can spend a few hours on each one. I also 
enjoyed a couple days I had at south junction, Hike up the tracks from the 
actual RR S. Junction and there is some great water. 

Personally I could also spend a week on the Metolious and be quite happy (in 
fact I have).
