i agree with other comments about the Deschutes, Tim.

It IS a wonderful month to be down there. And it is a big river, plenty of
room for steelheaders and trout fishermen.

I would concur about fishing below Shears Falls. Great float from Mack's
Canyon to the Columbia, by the way, if you're up for camping along the river
for a night or two. But be advised, fishing from a boat is prohibited.
