No, the fly shop will not reopen. Melanie and I were both under insured and
decided not to reopen either the fly shop or Wild Birds Unlimited. The Wild
Bird Unlimited franchise is up for sale, as is the property. I have thought
of offering what I have left of the fly shop, which is not much. Except for
my mail list and all my inventory that was entered in my point of sale
system on the computer, which I was able to save, there is nothing else.

Subject: Re: Sportsman's Warehouse

I'd like to buy everything at small fly shops- I'd also like to drive a
brand new pickup, fly to Christmas Island every winter and own property
on a river in Montana. Fly fishing is not an inexpensive passion. I get
by with the low-middle range equipment because that is all I can afford.
I will continue to go to small fly shops for information and those
hard-to-find items, but if I am going to buy a new rod, reel, waders,
float tube or something and the big warehouse or catalog place has the
exact same item for 20%-30% less, then I would be stupid to go elsewhere.
If I get good, friendly service at the small shops, I always buy a
handful of flies and maybe a hat (if they have a cool logo), but to
support them just because they exist is kind of silly. If you have
plenty of cash then that is great but I would like to continue to enjoy
the sport with out going broke!

I too miss the little shop that burned down- my trips to Sequim are not
the same anymore- I talked to someone there soon after the fire who said
there where plans to reopen- Are those plans still intact?
