Kinda late on this one but after my fishing exploits yesterday I have an answer.

Fished around the outlet of the quilcene river for coho in the estuary
yesterday. Left my good 8wt at a friends house so I was using this 40 dollar rod
I bought during my early stages of fly fishing to learn with. I was also using
the 29 dollar okuma sierra 8wt cause my redington reel broke and I had to get it
repaired. So point is my tackle according to most sucked.

Anyway, saw good numbers of fish and hooked a few hogs.By hogs I am talking coho
in excess of 15 pounds but didn't land them...Why you ask? Cause I didn't check
out my knots before hand and they failed. After I realized this I did fine but
had nothing close to the size of those fish.

My point is my fly line cost as much as my rod and reel and I had no problem
hooking fish(although my shoulder hurts from using a 2x4 to cast with) but didnt
land the big boys due to my knots.

With a heavy heart I vote for knots.
