| I had the same question when a friend of mine said people with pontoon boats were being given tickets at Lone Lake on Whidbey Island last spring. I got a copy of the boating regulations and read through it and also asked at several boating supply businesses. Each of them said you did not have to have a pfd on a pontoon boat. Now, I always wear my Sospenders anyway, and think it a good idea, but my understanding is that it is not required.
