Incedently the bass in Chopaka are smallmouth. I have caught them all around the lake, deep and shallow. I should also point out that I have cauth them mostly on insect patterns i.e. small halfbacks and emergers (not on the surface). I have seen them grouped up in weed pockets in the shallow end. Some pockets hold trout other pockets hold bass. I guess they like to segregate.
