Gary,

I wear the neoprene socks on the outside of my waders. They are the 
last thing I put on before I grab my boots. It keeps my boots from 
rubbing holes in the heels of my waders. Also, I don't have to cinch 
the boots very tight because I don't want to cut off the circulation 
in my feet. Good blood circulation keeps you warm.

As an aside, every person I fish cold rivers with swear by bootfoots.
