A number of years ago...he is pushing 40 now.....I
taught my son to fly fish fishing over the bluegill beds
on Lacamas Lake.  Those bluegill dearly love a fly so 
it's no problem to make sure the wee lad catches fish.
And you can see them so it makes it all the more exciting.

I would position the boat so he could just reach the bed 
with his best cast.  After he caught a few, I would ease the
boat back a couple of feet and make him cast further.  I don't
think he ever noticed that I was always pushing him to cast 
a little further.

After they are off the beds, just easing along the bank casting
to likely looking stumps and weed beds catches fish too.  Plus
it's exciting and helps build accuracy.
