this wont be much help....but when i was a TOTAL novice...and i mean total. i fished some streams in the area east of Camp Verde and around Strawberry.  didnt do anything there at the time. but...i only had my flyrod 2 weeks then...so flyfishing was a totally new experience.  some of the gravels were a little rough for a car. so hope you have an SUV for piece of mind.  they werent 4 x 4 trails...but had some rough spots.  but this site should help you  www.azflyfishing.com   check out the fishing reports...some info on the area i spoke of .   kevin
