There is decent bass and bluegill fishing in the valley area, mostly at
golf courses. head out east towards globe there are stock ponds south of
the highway with real nice bluegills. Best trout are in the white mountains
in the west fork of the little Colorado at greed and sheep crossing. Black
river east and west fork. The black river is artificial lure and fly only
from hayground creek to the fort apache Indian reservation including
hayground creek, thompson creek , stinky creek and I think burro creek. I
use to use a 6' 5wt rod that made it alittle easier to go bush whacking,
longer rod are handy in reaching out but the local vegetation can make them
a liability. most places that you can cast at don't hold fish, waders last
about 15 minutes. and are unnecessary almost everywhere. Also Christopher
Creek up north . easy to get to.
There is some fabulous fishing in the state but not always the easiest
to get to.
Hope this helps
