Wow.

This thread has been a good opportunity to wax nostalgic just a little.
Its long gone, but I had an early '60s Checker Marathon (was a Portland
taxi) that made a great fishing car. 

The speedometer/odometer never did work, but I would guess the mileage
could be stated as "X round trips to the moon."

It had a Detroit "pass anything but a gas pump" engine and 15" wheels
and plenty of ground clearance. For fishing it had plenty of room for
assembled rods. It could sleep 5, laying crosswise on the seats with 2
on the rear floor (the drive shaft hump was almost non-existent).
Everything was vinyl and you could wash it with a hose and sweep it out
with a kitchen broom. You could stand up enough to put on or take off
waders and other gear.

As my memory fades, I keep wondering why I ever got rid of it. 

I remember when I was a kid and looking for my first car in the
classified. One said, "Great fishing car - if you live by the lake."
