Title: Re: Flyfishing Christmas wish list
Many thanks to fellow listmembers for your advice on several items from my Christmas wish list. With your help:

I've connected with a local FFF master flycasting instructor and will begin the process of unlearning my accumulation of bad habits next month.

I've also connected with a fellow in Michigan who rebuilds vintage bamboo rods. I expect to take delivery of a rebuilt circa 1940 Heddon Lightline 3/4 wt 3-piece 8 foot trout rod, complete with two tips and an aluminum tube. The price for this beauty from a bygone era was less than I'll end up spending for a reel, extra spool and a couple of lines for it.

Special thanks also to those who invited me to join them for Holiday fishing trips. Although I'm no closer to finding the elusive extra time for fishing, my dreams of the New Year are positively awash with visions of wonderful fishing experiences.

So here's to a Happy New Year to all of us. May all our fish be willing, our lines tight, and our knots secure.

Willy's Ultimate Rod Assortment post got me thinking about what I'd REALLY like for Christmas.  OK, so the WAFF list isn't Santa Claus, but maybe if I wish really hard, some of these will actually come true!

1. Casting lessons. I'm not bad, but I could certainly be better. Bet I could benefit from a couple hours with a pro.

2. Saltwater experience. Think I'm finally ready to expand my horizons and give Puget Sound SRCs and salmon a try. A week chasing bonefish in the Seychelles would be even better.

3. A bamboo rod. A little number about 7 or 8 feet in a 3 or 4 weight and under $750 would be perfect.

4. Patience. I'm unusually calm once I get out on the water - it's the times in between that can really be trying.

5. A more understanding spouse. She's simply not buying my tired argument that time spent fishing makes me a better person.

6. Wisdom. At this rate, about the time I finally get it, I'll be dead.

7. Time. Speaking of which, there's simply not enough of it.

8. A mermaid. I'd love to catch one. I'll release her, honest!

Happy holidays and may all your wishes come true,

Kent Lufkin
