Brian, I have had the 12' model one for just over a year and love it. I friend of mine keyed me into this boat and at first I was skeptical on how stable a fold up boat would be. Once I received it and went out fishing, I then realized that this is one of the most stable boats I have been in, in-terms of a small open craft. I have no problems at standing up when playing a fish and/or casting into the wind since it does not rock from side to side. It works very well with a small electric trolling motor due to the light weight. I did used a 5hp motor on it last summer and again I was suprised that the weight of the motor didn't affect how the boat sat in the water and it handled extreamly well. The only disadvantage is in a heavy breaze it does drift more than other small crafts due to the 2in draft.
Overall, it was one of the best decisions I made for a light weight, stable, portable, fishing craft. After years of using tubes, pontoons and rafts, I'd like to get a boat. Storage space at home is at a minimum, so a boat and trailer combo won't really work. I want something light in weight and easy to store. The ability to add an electric motor for fishing larger bodies of water would also be a plus. > I've been looking at the Porta-bote folding boats. These fold down to 4" flat and could easily be strapped to the top of my vehicle. The weight is 58 lbs for the 10.8 foot model. > Does anyone have any experience (pros and cons) regarding these boats? > Thanks for your input. > Brian
