Brian,

My wife and I were at Jones Island in the San Jauns and a fellow came by
when we were cleaning our dinner indicating that he was here with his
son (a divorce situation) and would like to know what we were using etc.
etc. The upshot of it was that I volunteered to take them both fishing.
Since our boats were at the dock and moving would lose us our moorage
space, he took the 10 foot Portaboat off of his 26" McGregor and in less
than five minutes had it put together. He mounted a 5 hp two cycle on
it and off we went.

I was a little unnerved at first but soon relaxed. That is one fine
tool for the situation you describe. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, and
may yet. I was totally impressed.

Yes, the kid caught many bottom fish and only lost twenty or thirty
dollars of my tackle to do it. :) Money well spent!

Crusty

I wish outer-space guys would conquer Earth and make people their pets,
because I'd like to have one of those little basketbeds with my name on
it.

Subject: Porta-bote Questions

I think it may be time to add another craft to the fishing arsenal.
After years of using tubes, pontoons and rafts, I'd like to get a boat.
Storage space at home is at a minimum, so a boat and trailer combo won't
really work. I want something light in weight and easy to store. The
ability to add an electric motor for fishing larger bodies of water
would also be a plus.
I've been looking at the Porta-bote folding boats. These fold down to 4"
flat and could easily be strapped to the top of my vehicle. The weight
is 58 lbs for the 10.8 foot model.
Does anyone have any experience (pros and cons) regarding these boats?
Thanks for your input.
