Fished Nunnaly lake today , my pontoon wheel is working like champ , very smooth transport to the lake.
Weather was great , very calm no wind and overcast , water level is down about one foot.
Surface feeding was very minimal other than few trout picking super small black midges on the top of the water.
Soon as I got in the water I was in my first big rainbow he took my home made peacock herl nymph. I used pump on that fish and found full of blood worms , dark red.
I used the same nymph and tied blood worm size # 18 , soon I was in the second rainbow , this one was 23" long with gill half way missing , he did took the blood worm. After gently release I moved to a deeper part of the lake and picked up 2 more rainbows .
Slow 4-6" strips and pause did the trick . I used two rods one #5 with dry line with 14" leader taper to 5X
Other 4 weight with sinking tip short leader 2 feet and 3X tippet with Peacock nymph and gray saw bug , this set up landed nice 18" fat brown near dark.
On the way to boat lunch it was dark and I used big black leach and picked up 3 more trout.
Great day on the beautiful lake only one other fisherman .
Well I think I ended up the season on this lake nice 7 trout on great fall day.
I would definitely give a shot to those lakes before end of this month closing.
