Very light year so far for me, with only 30 days are so on the water. Between family
health issues and home improvement projects, this year has flown by. I've also notice
that every few years, my fishing habits / locations seem to change. In the late 80's
to early 90's when I was single, I used to spend as many as 40 days just on the Yakima
along with all my other fishing. I haven't fished it once this year. I now do more
saltwater fishing then ever before.
More and more, I've found I enjoy the road trips just as much as the fishing. Where I
used to rush to get to a place to fish, now the adventure of trying to find new water
and being around friends is just as fun.
Being married has also changed some of my fishing. Now I try to get in at least two
week long trips per year to sunny locations. This takes care of the wife's love of the
sun, and allows me to fish some pretty cool areas. This year was the Turks and Caicos
Islands for bonefish and Baja. While my wife doesn't fish much, she did catch her
first bonefish this year. Now she is talking about the Bahama's or Cayman Islands. I'm
sure glad she loves the sun!
