I'm looking to build a nice 7 to 7-1/2 ft
light/mid action 2wt rod for small stream work. I've built one other rod -
a 4 piece 8 wt that turned out great. I have the winding jig and the
drying motor, so I need a kit, or a good place for all the parts (blank, handle,
seat, guides, etc.)
Can anyone recommend a place to look or a supplier
that you trust? I'm trying to do this on the cheap - about $100 - $150 for
all the parts. I've been looking at the Redington kits, but would like to
hear from the sages (no pun intended) of the board for alternatives.
I tend to like a lighter action rod, as my go-to's are a 8'9" Winston 3wt LT and
a 9' Scott G 5wt. The Winston's just a bit too long for some of these
shrub covered streams on the West Side. I know if I find a good
combination of parts, it'll help me stay on the west side this year and not
venture too much over the Cascades (hint, hint...)
And yes, Kent, I'll end up throwing an Okuma reel
on it, just to hold the line! ;-)
Thanks in advance.
