I agree with you regarding the fishing pressure and the intro of the salmon. Saturday 
on my way home from Yakima, I drove up the canyon. There must have been at least 30 
boats fishing plus lots of bank anglers. With all of the different outfitters / 
flyshops / guides that have sprung up in the past few years, the fishing pressure is 
way up. In the late 80's and early 90's, I think Tim Irish was the only person really 
guiding and people thought he was crazy for guiding on the Yak. I used to fish it as 
much as 50 times a year but lately it has been more like once or twice a year.
In the spring, the salmon smolts can drive you crazy while dry fly fishing.
All in all, the Yak a fun river to fish. If you are willing to drive farther and 
explore more, Eastern Wa offers some other good stream trout fishing.
