I don't know much. But what I see is a state full of water, much of which has few fish. Thus, it would be great to have more catch and release wherever we have sport fisheries. The idea below sounds great. While we're at it: let's double the number of selective gear lake fisheries. Would the state's citizens suffer that much if we had a few more lakes like Dry Falls, Lenice, Merry, Nunnally, Lenore, Chopaka, Lone, Pass?
In fact, the economy might prosper due to tourist dollars. But, here's the catch: With the state's fiscal crisis (at least partly due to voter initiatives), can we pay for enforcement? I hope that I'm not being too opinionated. Try this one for size: Forget whatever run of wild fish the Snoqualmie has. Accept it as an urban river with many different user groups. Stock the bejeezus out of it with hatchery steelhead and have a kill season, including bait Then also have a catch and release selective fishery (barbless, any tackle) season. In return, make another river, like the Skykomish totally catch and release all year. Or something like that. Leland.
