Anahim lake area... I'd probably try Kappan, Hotnarko and before I got as far as Anahim... I'd fish Sapeye. You'd need a 4x4 and tires with good sidewalls to get into Hotnarko if the road(trail) hasn't changed since I was last up that way.
If I wanted to fish around Kamloops... then I'd just go to the forest service campground on the east end of Hihium. Only two of the lakes that have real good sized fish are Hotnarko and Sapeye. Or if you just want pigs... then go to Forest or some lake up by Quesnel that's a good lake for bruisers on chronies. The name of that lake eludes me right now. Mike Benbow at Avid Angler is a good one to talk to about this as he fishes this lake. Adventure: Looking for suggestions[Scanned] For the last four years, I have traveled to Calgary to fish the Bow River. I really love that river because the fish are quite large and I never cease to learn new stuff on the Bow. However, next summer I was thinking of making a couple of trips to B.C.--one in June and another in July or August. For the first trip, I thought that I would hit the Kamloops region. But, I have no idea how to decide where. Certainly, i will visit a fly shop upon my arrival wherever I go. For the second trip, probably about 2 weeks in duration, I was thinking of Anahim Lake, the Cassiar Highway, or maybe even Alaska. I'm looking for lakes with big rainbows and good camping. I am would consider getting a float plane to fly me in to a remote lake, leave me for a few day, and pick me up later. However, I have heard that a float plane is really not necessary. I wouldn't rule out hiring a guide for one day, but i'm pretty much an independent and economically restricted guy. I would welcome any suggestions that any of you would be willing to give. Where would you go for trophy rainbows and some degree of solitude? James
