A bamboo rodbuilder I know told me these rods are much improved over the past couple of years and he's heard from a few other builders that they are as good or better than some of the self proclaimed "poobahs" (his words) in the american hand planed rod market. I'm a little heavy in the bamboo trout rod area, but if they built a steelhead/light salmon rod for that money I'd be interested.

Note the post from flycaster99 about two-thirds of the way down the page.

Anyone get a postcard in the mail last night offering a $349 bamboo flyrod?
Offer came out of Headwaters Bamboo Rod co in Oregon.
Almost threw the postcard away as junk until I read flyrod on the one side.
