I am a guide so let me respond from the guides perspective.

My prices are based on the level of service one would expect when hiring a guide.  If that level of service is given then no tip is required.  If the guide is going beyond what one would reasonably expect then tipping would be in order.  I find my clients tip 20-30% most of the time.

Folks who have fished with more than one guide would start to appreciate the kind of 'outside the box' services I am referring to.  I would say a guide who sleeps while you fish is not entitled to a tip.

Subject: Float trip tipping

My buddy and I booked a 3 day smallmouth trip with Little Creek Outfitters (thanks to those who recommended them).

So my question is, what the appropriate way to tip these guys and who do you tip? Is it the standard 10-15% to the guide?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
