Subject: RE: Hard water at the Lenice opener?Paul, do you fly fish for walleye often? I gave it a shot one day last fall, followed all the suggestions I read, and managed to catch one 21-incher and lost one other.

The Potholes reservoir is mostly ice free, so the little lakes should be similar.
I've been checking the rez because of the tasty walleye in it.
(yup.. I'll be using flies.. )

Subject: Hard water at the Lenice opener?
The cabin fever outbreak at my house is beginning to ease with the
realization that the opener for Lake Lenice, Nunnally, etc. is about
two weeks away. However, I'm hearing reports that many of the basin
lakes are unusually icy this winter, making for good 'hard water'
fishing but not so good for float tubes or pontoon boats. Has anyone
ever tried ice fishing at the Lenice or Nunnally opener?

Title: RE: Hard water at the Lenice opener?
Brendan, I was kidding about using flies for them
on the Potholes. When I'm there I'll be looking just like the crew from
the In Fisherman program.
Now in
the summer at Sprague.... lots different story as they're very accessible
there. Water is shallow (13') and the locations are predictable for
where the fish will be.
Actually, if a person wanted to try it on the Potholes
in the spring... it would be doable there also. Fish are concentrated and
boats could be anchored. Just need a full sinking line on the bottom and
dragging a fly thru the fish.
