This report is a little late, but two of us walked in to the Bogachiel from
the gate at the end of the road and fished for a while Saturday morning.
Found a great run with nice flow and depth and fished it hard but with no
takers. The water was clear and the sun was out, so that probably didn't
help a lot.
Now to the confession: the day before, on the advise of our guide ("You want
steelhead or casting practice?") due to the condition of the rivers, we
bounced bait and each landed two nice fish on the Sol Duc. We bonked the
only hatchery fish we caught and released three beautiful wild fish. At
least this guide uses modified fly rods to bounce bait. Forks in February
and I got a sunburn--go figure.
