I second Mike's comments about Rene Harrop's CDC available  through  
Trouthunter. Les and I split several of their 1/8 oz bags last fall.  
The feathers come in a variety of sizes and the natural colors (browns,  
tans and duns) are excellent. The 1/8 oz bags are priced at about $15  
which amounts to a lifetime supply for the average tyer. Harrop also  
introduced a line of CDC dubbing which was available at the Trouthunter  
booth at the Flyfishing Show in Bellevue a couple months ago. I haven't  
tried it yet but am looking forward to doing so.

On another note, I see that Brian Chan and Phil Rowley have introduced  
a line of tying materials aimed at stillwater fishers. Their maribou,  
ostrich, dubbing, and other materials are coordinated in a range of  
subtle matching colors that are marked improvements (at least in my  
opinion) over the bright, almost garish hues one usually finds in  
shops. If anyone's tried their new stuff, I'd appreciate hearing your  
thoughts on using it.

Here are a couple of options that I'm aware of.  However, neither of

are cheap:

In the US, you can try Rene Harrop.  His color selection is limited,

FlyFishingCDC has the best commercially sold CDC that I have seen to  
date.
At a show, we did a direct comparison to Marc Petitjean's CDC and
FlyFishingCDC's.  FlyFishingCDC's product is higher quality and the  
pricing
better than Marc's.  Every feather in the bag is usable.  You can use  
the
left over snippings as dubbing.

And finally - speaking of new CDC tricks - can anyone recommend a great

did make me want to play more with CDC (with CDC callibaetis being the

of the evening tonight -which should pretty much exhaust my dun and

CDC stock using four feathers at a time and not being able to use the
