Fish between Pullman and the Seattle area?

My son-in-law has a paper to present at the Inland Empire Philosophy Conference this weekend in Pullman/Moscow.  (Don't laugh--this is actually one of the premiere philosophy conferences in the country!)  He loves to fish, but isn't yet a full-fledged fly, though I'm working on it.  I'm taking him over to Pullman, fishing on my own on Saturday, and then we will fish somewhere between Pullman and North Bend on Sunday.   So, the question is, "Where?"  Please help.  He's fine fly-fishing as long as he doesn't have to cast too far, but can also just do spin on selective (single barbless) waters. We will have pontoon boats.  Any and all suggestions that might get him into some good trout, or even smallmouth fishing would be most appreciated.   Ed Morrison From the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River
