I chanced the iffy weather and potential Memorial Day crowds and traffic and hit the first 1 hours of the incoming tide today on one of my favorite S.Sound beaches. Did pretty well in the short time I fished, landing 5 cutts and missing a few. I had one fish that was 17-18” and another one that was about 16” so I was getting bigger fish than I have recently. I saw the big guy swirl, cast right in front of the swirl, had a boil at the fly but missed then he just slammed it. All fish on a #8 Olive Maribou Clousers. Luckily only a few gear fisherman and lots of clam diggers out today so there was no crowd to really speak of, I bet the Yakima was a different story.
