Excellent Jim. Thankfully you wrote down their license plate
numbers. Without them there is nothing that the WDFW enforcement people
can do; they do take this seriously.

Subject: Cedar River: poachers!
I was sad to see
three guys come to their pickups last night with two really nice looking trout
on a stringer. I confronted them about it and schooled them on the
regs. These (sloping forehead) morons did exactly as would be
expected by their sort: played dumb... wait, were they
playing?
What they don't know
is that I wrote down their license plate numbers and called the poaching
hotline. I was told that the officer will run the plates and knock on
their door. The officer is supposedly going to give me a followup
phonecall to let me know the outcome. I'll post again if I get a callback
to let y'all know what happened.
The phone number for
the poaching hotline is 1-800-477-6224. It's open from 8
am to 5pm and you can leave a message after hours. I was glad to hear that
they will actually confront the people after-the-fact by knocking on their
door. I was afraid I'd hear "there's nothing we can do." That was a
relief.
Let's not let those
idiots ruin what I consider the best trout fishery on the West side of the
state. Turn the b*st*rds in!!!
