The Cooper River (outflow of Cooper Lake) is a river I've been meaning to explore more of--but in late summer, the surface of the lake warms up, thus warming up the river. Regardless, I caught a fairly spunky and healthy looking 'bow of 10" or so last year.
The Upper Cle Elum can be fun; it's very similar to the Snoqualmie (all forks--south fork can be excellent, but also popular).
All of the above are basic attractor-pattern type waters.

Sometime in early August, I am planning to make a trip with one of my graduate school professors (he's from Minnesota) to fish either in the Central Cascade or North Cascade Mountains. He is really interested in some mountain/wilderness stream/creek fishing and the size of the trout are not an issue to him (so long as they are wild trout). I have a guidebook on the Central Cascades and limited experience in the North Cascades, but I am interested to hear some opinions about the stream fishing in either of these places and which one might be the better option. Any suggestions as to creeks and/or rivers in those areas would be appreciated as well. Lakes are also an option, but he would prefer to fish streams if at all possible. In doing a little investigating, I have come up with the following streams in the Central Cascades: Upper and Lower Waptus River, Cooper River, Taylor River, Upper Ingalls Creek, Kachess River, Cabin Creek, the North and Middle Forks of the Snolqualmie, and the Middle Fork of the Teanaway River. In the North Cascades, I am considering fishing some of the tributaries of Ross Lake: Big Beaver Creek, Little Beaver Creek, Lightening Creek. Any comments on any of these streams would be most appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance.
Dave
