| Doug, I've fished Stoney and Minnie in the past, and while it was earlier in the season, an intermediate type II Line was in order. I don't know that a sink tip would do the job. I've always hated the sink tip in lakes because it was a lot more work casting than in the river where it seemed to work well. They had flies at the lodge, but not very many and not a large selection. You might try stopping at a fly shop in Merritt before heading up, or call the Stoney Lake Lodge to ask for suggested patterns. The patterns we used were the traditional lake patterns of early spring. Dry flies may be an option in the evenings now. Some local advice would be very valuable. Good luck and have fun. Paul |
