I think we'll have to do that next time. I got the two syringes from Cabelas and for a 14 ft rod, we barely used any, I think the packets would be just fine next time.

For guys like me who only build a couple of rods per year, I now use the little packets of epoxy and rod finish sold by Cabela's. The amounts are all pre-measured so all you have to do is fold over the packet, cut off the end, and carefully and thoroughly squeeze out the contents into your mixing cup and stir.
