If you're in the Seattle area, I'd really suggest a trip to River Run
Anglers in Carnation to talk to Aaron (proprietor) and his cohorts.
They're all fine speycasters who have a variety of good introductory
rods. He'll let you try a bunch of his rods on Saturday morning - he
conducts a free casting clave most Saturday mornings and it's a great
way to get an free introductory casting lesson as well.

If you're not in the Pugetropolis area, your best bet will be to find
the closest shop that specializes in spey tackle and talk to them.

There are many fine introductory spey rods out there - from Sage, St
Croix, Loop, CND, etc. Try some out and find out what you like -
that's the only way. Lots of people will tell you what ~they~ like.
Fortunately, THEY won't be casting and fishing your rod - you will.

Good Luck!

Brian

investing in a spey rod and what resources are available to learn to
fish with a spey rod.
