That is why I asked where you lived. If you're close to Carnation, you
really need to see Aaron. He is out on the water by his shop every Saturday
morning with several other people like you, testing rods. He will help you
get started with casting and help you try to figure out what you like. He
is not out to sell you anything, he is only there to teach. You can spend
months doing this until you decide what you are going to do. I recomend
spending months before you purchase anything. Never buy something you can't
touch and cast out on the water. Let your hands and arms decide for you,
not the salesman or the cheap price on ebay. Otherwise, you may be putting
it back on ebay. There are a few shops that will let you try their rods
too. This isn't much help if you don't know how to cast.
