When you buy flies you get what you pay for. I suspect the Wal Mart flies
are made with cheap hooks. Tying your own flies is so much fun I can't imagine
buying them and when you tie your own you can ensure quality components. Also, I
believe you can reduce lost fish significantly be keeping your hooks sharp. I
find even with quality hooks I have to resharpen them regularly also
new hooks are often not truly sharp.
