I spent the weekend exploring several small streams in Kittitas County for trout. The streams I checked out have selective regulations and are not stocked. I hooked many fish on a small hopper imitation, sometimes with a nymph dropper. It's been a long time since I hooked so many fish on dries. Most were tiny, 5-7 inches, a 9 incher was a trophy. All were rainbows. I never saw another fisherman, what a nice change of pace. I was camped at the KOA on the Yakima and it was running very high with minimal surface activity. I fished it Friday evening and took a large cutthroat on a hopper. I also encountered a nice hatch of caddis at dark and caught several small fish.
