Leland,
Sounds like a hell of a deal. Have fun and best of luck on the popper.

Dell,
Looks like you had another great trip to Alaska. I'm gonna go look for
some pinks to toss my popper at this thursday. I am tying a bunch of
poppers now for a Labor Day trip to the Queen Charlottes - Les Johnson,
Trey Combs, Kathy Ruddick (of Ruddick's in Vancouver), Sean Bennett (of
Weigh West in Tofino), myself and three or four others will be at the
Pergrine Lodge in the Queen Charlotte Islands. We are a part of a
television contest called the "2005 Pacific Rim Saltwater Flyfishing
Championships." We will also be filming interviews, strategies as well as
the fishing. I am going to see if the Miyawaki Beach Popper can come
through under pressure!
Leland.
I and my buddy, Clay, just got back from a trip to Kodiak, AK fishing the
beaches for Pink Salmon. There were lots of fresh bright fish that came
readily to a variety of flies. The most exciting was fishing Leland's
Beach
Popper, a pattern developed by Leland Miyawaki for Coho and Searun
Cutthroat
in the Puget Sound. Thank you Leland for making it possible to have the
fun of catching salmon at the surface.

We caught 20 to 30 Pinks each day.
