I thought it was about a 6 to 8 hour drift to Schumaker Access presuming that is where you are taking out at? I am just repeating some times I was told as I have never drifted any where on the Grand Ronde.

The guy I mentioned in my other email has a drift boat but is very reluctant to use it in the Grande Ronde. What are the water levels or the CFS like in January/March? I am trying to get him to at least drag his drift boat along on our October trip just in case the water levels are good enough for him to feel conferrable enough to use it and if not we can leave the drift boat at camp.

If we use his boat in October and the water levels are about the same maybe I can get him to try it in the January/March time slots again.

How are the roads during January/March? Icy I bet, especially the long haul from Lewiston, which is part of the route we would be driving over.

Bogan's oasis down to whatever the takeout is, can't remember the name, it's about a 3 to 4 hour drift depending on how hard you fish.  Your friend is correct, lots of gearchuckers, but I've only gone in a driftboat.  15 - 20 fish days.

I have never fished  it during the January through March season. I have a friend who use to fish it but said it was so crowed with gear guys and the only little stretch a fly fisherman could fish was the catch & release section near the mouth so he only goes over once in a while at that time of year. Where do you fish ?

I usually don't hit the GR until January.  It's cold as hell, but the fishing is red hot.

Has anyone been fishing the Grande Ronde [Washington or Oregon side], Deschutes or the Snake Rivers recently?

I am thinking about going to the Grande Ronde next week or the week after but could change my mind and go to one of the other rivers instead.
