I would appreciate some some advice on options for additional an hard drive.
I have a BWG3 400 rev 2 OS 9.1 with the original 6gb hard disk. I am planning next year to upgrade to OS X and because of some other plans I will need to have extra hard drive space. Also needed will be more space for back up. I seem to have several options: 1 Add an extra HD into the BWG3. As it is a rev 2, I would not anticipate any probs with just dropping an IDE drive in. [Size and brand not considered here.] Only question I can think of here is should the the new disk be made the master or slave? 2 Purchase an external Firewire HD in a case. Merits of brands/configurations welcome. 3 Purchase an extra IDE hard drive and put it in the BW in place of the original hard drive. Then purchase a FW case and put the original hard drive into the FW case. 4 Purchase an external CDRW drive to burn CDs for use as backups and as working disk space. The second half of that path does not seem a great idea. It seems that the first option would be cheapest. Possible disadvantage with options 2, 3 is that I believe that BW machines can not be booted from external FW drives, correct? Any thoughts? Propositions from commercial posters welcome, off list.
