Hi Wamug
I am a programmer who is new to Macs and I need a little help. We have a G4
tower and G4 TieBook here with no development software installed.
Primarily I am going to want to develop ASP applications (a big part of our
business is web design) and, to a smaller degree, small applications for
tracking client contacts, etc.
I have programmed these sorts of applications on Windows machines before (I
have been using ASP.NET lately) but I am unfamiliar with what sort of tools
are available for doing this kind of thing on Macs.
Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Basically ASP is a Windows specific system which isn't supported on
the Mac, there are however lots of alternatives like
Lasso <http://www.blueworld.com/>
FileMaker <http://www.filemaker.com/>
PHP (under Mac OS X) <http://www.php.org/>
UserLand Frontier <http://www.userland.com/>
There are of course the usual multimedia options like Macromedia
Flash, and web development tools like GoLive Cyberstudio etc.
Have fun,
Shay
