Hi Peter I have seen the kernal panic after install several times.
Usually you can hard shutdown the computer and reboot and all is ok. In this case what is happening after he reboots???
Mike has a G3 B/W, and has set up his 6Gb HD with two partitions, one about 3 Gb and one about 2Gb. He has installed MacOS 9.1 on the 3Gb one, and MacOS X on the other. The problem is this: he is running MacOS X 10.0, but all attempts to upgrade to 10.1 result in a kernel panic. He has erased the partition and done a fresh install several times, all to no avail.
