It seems to me that if the manufacturer says that a scanner will work on a Mac then there is a very good chance it will. I guess a good practice is not to accept goods which have been opened, lest some elf has helped themselves, or take a look in the box when purchasing to make sure the advertised software of the side of the box is actually there. The other thing is to buy your equipment from a reputable Australian retailer. The curse upon Australian electronic equipment distributors are people who buy an item overseas, then expect the Australian warranty and service back-up to apply. Usually there is dissatisfaction. I know Officeworks backup to the hilt what they sell, and will give a refund without argument if the goods fail to perform as claimed. How many other retailers do that, even the big ones?
