Has anyone a solution? Maybe I've missed something in the changeover

I'd suggest trying Epson's drivers, if you haven't already:

Or, try holding down the option key while clicking the 'Add' button
in the print centre,
Or, failing that, try installing using CUPS directly on a Mac OS X machine

Also, you probably need to ensure that you've got AppleTalk turned
on, from the Network Preferences Panel.
