I suspect this has something to do with the Personal LaserWriter not
being a postscript printer. Can someone confirm this, or give me a
solution please?
Yes, that'd be it.
I believe it's possible to use CUPS (OS X's new printer architecture)
along with Ghostscript under OS X to render postscript files to
formats suitable for non-postscript printers, you may be able to go
that route.
