Content Indexing

Hello all,

Running OSX 10.2.3 on a Dual 1Ghz plain door box. The problem that I 
can not index the disk for a search by content operation.

If I start a Search By Content from the Finder the Disk Info shows the 
status as "Indexing...", no Date and the highlighted button (Stop 
Indexing) does nothing.

I have trashed all files I could find related to indexing (.fbc) all to 
no avail. Any hints?
