Having lived day in day out with OSX for over a month (as opposed to
occasionally booting an old 233 to OSX to help OS X using clients)
I'm pretty much decided that I can't "go back" to OS 9
Why...
well Zero OS crashes in 5 weeks, a hand full of application crashes
none of which required a reboot even to re-launch the same
application. This is dramatically different to my OS 9 (and below)
experiences with constant conflicts between required extensions and
applications. (hands up who actually could get OS 9 VNC server app
not to crash their mac 2 out of 3 times without a major culling of
other 3rd party extensions?)
Better integration of applications and all the ow so nice little
interface features that you don't know are there until you come
across them by accident, like preview mode for movies, graphics and
audio in finders column mode and JPGs having icon previews built
automatically....
That said it's not perfect and I don't think I could live without
some 3rd party stuff like FruitMenu and little effort savers like
"Jaguar CD Essentials" (which allow you to erase a CD-W without
needing to launch DiskTools and enter an admin password)
Anyway, cutting to the chase...
what do other OS X users feel are the greatest undocumented features,
biggest gripes and the must have 3rd party systems add ons?
