In the olden days there was a font called Boston that had the common
fractions of half, three quarters, two thirds etc.
Today I typed up some recipes for my wife with such measures and used
Boston. Because she wanted to send them by email with format intact I
went to Print and Saved at PDF. But I couldn't. Obviously there was
no conversion for the font. Converting half to 0.5 etc is not an
option, a third of cup does not convert very well in metril or
imperial.
Is there an OSX font with such measures and will Adobe recognise it?
Suggestions please.

Here's one way:
Go to System Preferences > International > Input Menu Tab. Check
"Character Palette". Now you should see a new icon in the System Menu
at the top of the screen (or it might still be in the form of a flag if
you have the US setting turned on). Click on this and choose "Show
Character Palette" from the Menu. Maker sure that the "View:" popup
says "Roman", and choose "digit" from the list of choices on the left
hand side of the window. You will see some fraction characters appear
in the main panel. Check the "Show only fonts containing selected
character" check box, and a list of the fonts containing the character
will show in the "Font" popup. Click the "Insert" button to paste the
character into your document.
